What Parents Think

"I think Mandi is an incredible leader with a heart for God and children.  My experience with her as a parent has been nothing but stellar.  She has great communication and people skills and I have never once had a bad experience with her as the director of my children’s preschool.  I have never figured out how she managed to make everything run so smoothly and act so relaxed at the same time.  She was always present throughout the day.  When we dropped the kids off, she was there.  When we picked the kids up, she was there.  I could always see the love she had for her job. It shined through in everything she did with the kids and the teachers."

Faith-Filled Preschool Near Augusta

Building Futures with Love, Learning, and Faith

We’re more than just another preschool—we’re a place where fun, faith, and learning come together to create a meaningful and engaging experience for every child. Our foundation is deeply rooted in Christian values, which shape the way we teach and interact with our students. From practicing kindness and respect to sharing Bible stories and faith-based lessons, we provide a well-rounded education that nurtures both the heart and the mind. Small class sizes allow our dedicated teachers to give each child the personalized attention they need, adapting to their individual learning styles and supporting their development every step of the way.

Our play-based approach to learning means children get to explore through hands-on experiences like art projects, outdoor adventures, and creative problem-solving, all while having fun. We believe play isn’t just a break—it’s how young minds grow best. Preparing children for kindergarten is a top priority, so we focus on building strong foundations in math, literacy, and social-emotional skills to ensure they’re ready to succeed. Most importantly, we create a safe, caring environment where children feel valued, confident, and excited to learn. • What does safety look like?
Our commitment to your child’s safety begins the moment your child steps through our doors. New Discoveries follows KDHE guidelines, which ensures all teachers have received training to protect young children and have been background checked and fingerprinted through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. We take the security and safety of our students and staff very seriously. The building has locked doors encompassing the entire center.
  • Will my child be able to eat?
Nutritious snacks are provided daily according to KDHE guidelines. If your child is unable to eat the provided snacks, please send in snacks specifically for your child.
  • What if my child has serious life threatening allergy to peanut/ tree nuts?
There are children enrolled who have serious life threatening peanut/ tree nut (including but not limited to: almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashew, pistachio, Brazil nuts, pure almond extract) allergies. Therefore, New Discoveries has chosen to be a peanut and tree nut free center and will take reasonable steps to prevent any potential exposure. Please keep this policy in mind when planning birthday treats for your child to bring to school and when providing food for class parties.
  • What should my child bring each day?
Each child should bring a backpack large enough for a 9”x12” folder to fit inside, and a spill proof water bottle labeled with the child’s name, each day. All students enrolled need to have a change of clothing kept in their backpack at all times. All other materials needed for preschool are listed on the School Supply List.
  • Will my child be able to celebrate their birthday in the classroom?
We want to celebrate each child’s birthday at preschool, and we strongly encourage each parent to sign-up on the Birthday Calendar for your child’s class to schedule a day of celebration for this very special occasion. On the day of celebration, your child will be the special honoree of the day. Parents should check with their child’s teacher to know when to arrive to set-up for the celebration. Parents should bring napkins, plates, cups and a favorite birthday snack and drink. We ask that no tree nut or peanut products be brought because of allergies in our classrooms, so please read labels carefully, and please refrain from bringing cupcakes or cake as these can be very messy for little kids. After enjoying a special birthday song and birthday snack, your child will share with the class a special “ME” bag from home. This bag should include about 5 special items about the Birthday Honoree. Examples include: photos of family, pets or special trips, favorite toy, favorite book, favorite movie or other treasured items.
  • How will my child be disciplined?
At New Discoveries, we encourage individuality and want each child to be as successful as possible. Every adult who cares for children has a responsibility to guide, correct, and socialize children toward appropriate behaviors. These adult actions often are called child guidance and discipline. Positive guidance and discipline are crucial because they promote children's self-control, teach children responsibility and help children make thoughtful choices. Intervention strategies include but are not limited to the following: One-on-one relationships building activities such as the I Love You Rituals Class-made books individualized for the student. Individual picture cards to support behavioral expectations. Ways for the student to be of service to the school, others or his or her community. Noticing and describing the child’s body, face and actions, labeling of feelings, and acknowledging or true intent. I Am: Feeling Chart, I Choose: Self-Control Board, and use of other Conscious Discipline methods. Assessing, teaching, or scaffolding missing executive skills.
